Anthony Wilson

Welcome to my website.  I am an Eastbourne-based music teacher, composer, pianist and organist.

Music Teacher

My philosophy of music teaching is centered on the idea of learning through involvement in practical music making.  I believe we all have the ability to make music.  It just needs careful encouragement and suitable opportunity!

My career in teaching started as a music student, when I taught the piano to young musicans in our church.  Since reading Music at the University of Nottingham and graduating with 1st class honours in 1995, I went on to study for a PGCE in secondary music teaching at the University of London (now UCL) Institute of Education, qualifying in 1996.  In 2008, I successfully completed the IoE’s engaging MA Music Education course.

I am a member of the ISM and am registered with the DBS Update service for safeguarding purposes.

Class music teaching

Since 1996 I have worked in both the maintained and independent sectors as a secondary music teacher in Hertfordshire, London, Leicester and East Sussex. My experience includes more than 5 years as a Head of Music.

I currently teach class music lessons at KS3 and A Level, as well as working as a visiting music teacher.

Piano and music theory

As well as my school work teaching the piano, organ and theory, I have occasional vacancies for private students in the Eastbourne area.  I have gained the ARSM diploma with Distinction in piano playing, as well as ABRSM Grade 8 Theory.

Organ teaching

I am available to teach the organ privately and have occasional vacancies.
